WHO MAKES THE LIST
“Control, not fame.”
Power
The ability to force or block outcomes that change how people live, move, earn, fight, or communicate.
Not fame. Not likeability. Wealth is one axis — one of the smaller weights.
No party labels
We do not put (R) or (D) next to anyone. This is not “Republicans bad” or “Democrats bad.” Parties change with convenience. Money in politics and concentrated control do not. Trump, donors, CEOs, and operators get scored the same way — by what they can force or block, not by jersey color.
In
They control a system other people depend on — office, energy, defense, chips, telecom, logistics, platforms, banks, capital markets, or businesses that set prices, access, or infrastructure.
Out
Mostly culture attention — music, sports fame, lifestyle celebrity — unless they also run a hard dependency business. A tour gross is not a chokepoint.
Rich ≠ active
Endorsements and checks are not the same as running the machine — sustained political and institutional pressure aimed at outcomes.
Wealth without the same active role
Oprah is rich and culturally huge. That is not the same ongoing operational power as Koch-network / Griffin–Citadel–class capital and operators who treat politics as infrastructure.
Strategic finance vs celebrity capital
Market-making, PACs, and capital-markets plumbing can matter more to daily life than a household name with a foundation.
Entertainment ≠ political power
A stadium is not a Senate whip. Followers are not getting people to act. Mobilization and Influence are real — and distinct from Information (pipes and secrets).
- Entertainment — attention, taste, brand, celebrity endorsement.
- Authority — office, appointments, donor conversion into institutional action.
- Command · Leverage · Force — orgs you direct, chokepoints, physical compulsion.
- Mobilization — strikes, boycotts, sit-ins (history).
Weights put Command, Authority, Leverage, and Force above raw Mobilization proxies and Wealth.
