THE EIGHT ABILITIES

“Weights and what each axis means.”

Each person is scored 0–100 on eight abilities from public data. Click an axis on a profile for evidence.

The Index is not an average

The Power Index measures a person's capacity to cause consequential action — not how powerful they are in every possible sense. A high score does not mean someone controls everything. It means they have unusually strong capacity across the forms of power measured here.

Position is not power. So every ability is asked one more question: if you left tomorrow, how much of this would go with you?

Power that ends when the job ends is borrowed. Power that walks out of the door with you is retained. The fingerprint shows the full figure — a defense secretary really can move an army — while the Index counts what is actually his to exercise.

Each ability is judged against the source that supplies it, not against the person as a whole. Authority and Force come from the office; Wealth and Leverage come from what you own. That is why owning a company does not make a cabinet post any less revocable — and why a donor's money, network and ownership survive the politician they funded leaving office.

A Supreme Court justice and a cabinet secretary are both appointed. One cannot be removed at all; the other serves at the pleasure of a single person. The Index treats them as the opposites they are.

  • Command 18%

Organizations you can direct — companies, bureaucracies, parties, unions, foundations.

  • Authority 16%

Institutions that recognize your right to act — office, courts, regulators, formal mandate.

  • Leverage 16%

Strategically indispensable position — oil, chips, rails, infra others cannot easily leave.

  • Force 12%

Compel or deny — armed command, or operational kill-switches institutions cannot route around (including critical market plumbing).

  • Mobilization 10%

People you can make act — strikes, boycotts, protests, turnout, loyal coordination.

  • Influence 10%

Ability to change what people believe is possible, acceptable, or necessary.

  • Information 10%

Knowledge and information control — media pipes, data, secrets, asymmetry.

Deployable money, assets, and loss-absorbing capacity.
